HDPE Pipes : Sunrise Sector of Plastic Industry
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe was introduced in India in 1968 for agriculture applications.
It has widened its scope of utilities to following:

play major role in these applications.

Significant end - use sectors where HDPE is presently
marketed include:

Telecom ducting 45 %
Potable water supply 16 %
Irrigation 14 %
Fuel gas distribution 07 %
Others 18 %

KET have been offering hi-tech HDPE pipe plants with output range of 140-2300 kgs/hr. They have successfully installed over 200 HDPE pipe plants; in India and Abroad. They have manufactured plants for a maximum pipe diameter of 630 mm and an output of 700 kgs/hr. Another application achieved is steel pipe coating. KET have supplied 5 nos. of 45 mm, 12 nos. of 90 mm & 1 no. of 150 mm Single screw extruders for PE coatings.

Joint venture partner Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik, Germany is the leader of large diameter pipe extrusion lines.
Out of 120 large dia extrusion lines operating all over the world, 85 are supplied by BEX, creating almost a monopolistic market condition. They manufacture extrusion lines and suitable downstream equipments to produce pipes of diameters ranging from 800 to 1600 mm with wall thickness upto 118 mm.

The bright future of HDPE pipe is well supported by KET's hi-tech HDPE pipe plants with technology from world leader Battenfeld.

HDPE raw material consumption for pipes in the year 2006-07 is around 105,000 tonnes. The demand of HDPE pipes in India is projected to be 244,000 tonnes by 2010-11 with CAGR of 16 %, probably the highest growth sector. The total drinking water requirements at 9 all India level is likely to touch 52 x 10 cubic meters by 2025.Under broad categories of usage of PE pipes, water transportation and industrial applications are the most important ones. Large diameter pipes with diameters in the range 800 - 1600 mm are expected to
