Conical Twin Screw Extruders are becoming common in profile extrusion for their superior price/performance ratio, besides several other advantages. This is specially true in the extrusion of complicated uPVC window true in the extrusion of complicated uPVC window profiles, which generates high pressure.
Battenfeld is a leader in Twin Screw Technology and Battenfeld is a leader in Twin Screw Technology and have developed and marketed world wide 42, 54 and 72mm Conical Twin Screw Extruders. KET has now manufactured the BEX -2-54C model in India with 54mm Conical Twin Screws, for outputs between 20-130 kgs/hr depending upon profile dimensions.

Processor Benefits
Efficient and Gentle Plastification
More efficient transmission of heat energy and better plastification as the screw surface is much larger in the feed zone.
Precise Temperature Control
Relatively smaller diameter of the conical screw in the discharge zone reduces frictional heat generation, aiding precise temperature and shear heat control. This prevents degradation of melt resulting in better quality with superior surface finish  of the  profile. This is a process  requirement.
Higher Outputs at Low Screw Speeds
Negative conical flight depth of the screws provide higher
throughput at low screw speeds. This results in low energy consumption, gentle plasticizing, low screw wear and prevents shear of plastic melt.
Excellent Pressure Build-up & Thrust Absorption
The Conical Twin Screw design easily withstands continuous high pressure of 400 - 450 bar withou affecting gear box. It facilitates efficient pressure build-up using much lower energy input.
Consistent Extrusion Process
Reduced feed volume from the hopper is effectively combined with the very high torque required in window profile extrusion, facilitating consistency in the extrusion.

Ideal for Window Profiles
It is therefore quite  evident that the  Conical  Twin Screw  Extruder is a superior  alternative for  manufacturing heavier cross  sections  of  window  profiles like sash and  mullion.
