How does the production process of BOPP film differ from CPP film? what is their metallizing process ? Is it the same for both? which one of them is more economical from production point of view?

from my point of view bopp process is much more better than cpp .according to the mr editor we can double or tripple our output better than cpp and its obviously will be taking a lot of cost but it also will be getting a lot of out ..so for me beside we having a better thickness by using bopp we can put a side the cpp process. |

BOPP film is an oriented PP film. CPP film is a film produced by cast proces. In this process no orientation takes place. At the most orientation in length can be done. CPP film therefore is a thicker compared to BOPP film. Typically BOPP film starts from 8 micron & goes up to 50 micron. While CPP film starts from 40 micron & goes up to 100 micron.
In BOPP film the first extrusion takes place that is a sheet. This proces is similar to cast film priocess without any orientation. Subsequently in the same line biaxial orientation takes place Typically the thickness is reduced 10 times in width & 5 times in length direction. This is called stenter process. There is another process called double film process. In this proces the film is blown once, reheated & again blown. The second bubble introduces circumferential orientation. In this process equal orientation takes in both the directions. BOPP film proces is predominantly used to produce PP film. Cast film proces can also be used for manufacture of PE film (LDPE & LLDPE).
In BOPP film process almost 85-90% of the Worlds production takes place by stenter process. It is very capital intensive but has a very high production rate. The present largest one plant capacity is 25 KT. There are a few lines that have been recently built for China that can prtoduce 33 KT/year of PP film. CPP film proces typically has much lower capacity. Typically it can range from 2 to 5 KT/year. The capital investment in CPP is less but the manufacturing cost is higher compared to BOPP due to lower output.
Both these machiunes are not manufactured in India. The World leaders in BOPP proces are Bruckner, Germany & DMT in france for Stenter proces. Tubular proces (double bubble) is available from Mitsui.
