a dual polymerisation process to produce superior bimodal polyethylene for demanding applications in film, wire and cables and pipes.
Borouge uses the innovative Borstar Technology at its US$1.2 billion petrochemical complex in Ruwais, in the United Arab Emirates, which in is operational since in end 2001. The 260-hectare plant comprises of a 600,000-tonne ethylene cracker and two polyethylene plants, each with an annual production capacity of 225, 000 tonnes of high-medium and linear low bimodal polyethylene. The plant is the first significant downstream petrochemical investment in the United Arab Emirates and the first in the region to incorporate Borstar technology.
The Borstar process produces innovative products which:
Give superior properties
Are used in a broad range of product application
Priced competitively
Exert less burden on the environment
Borouge 2, the major expansion project being undertaken by Borouge at its production facility in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, will triple annual production capacity to two million tons of polyolefins. Borouge 2 will include the worlds biggest olefins conversion unit producing 752,000 tpa and two Borstar polypropylene plants with a combined annual capacity of 800,000 tpa, along with a new Borstar-enhanced polyethylene plant that will have an annual capacity of 540,000 tpa to complement the existing 600,000 tpa unit. |
