Polymer Processing Aid is basically targetted for reduction in surface defects like lower gel formation, elimination of die build up and a substantial reduction in melt fracture. Besides it has a number of other benefits such as increase in output and reduction in energy consumption.
However, during this period, use of PPA in other plyolefins, such as Polypropylene and Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene was very limited because of the significantly different rheological properties as well as specific grade of PPA for PP processing.
