Wittmann Modular IML Molds for Highest Flexibility:
Increasing competitive pressure requires manufacturers of packaging solutions to follow new paths. The In-Mold-Labeling (IML) technology represents a promising possibility to design attractive packages - and thereby to raise its value. Wittmann presents a new-style IML-system and mold, which offer highest flexibility even for small production batches.

With the continuing popularity of IML-technology comes the request from dedicated systems to flexible systems offering a simple change-over from one product and label to the next. In the robot product range Wittmann introduces the IML-system W727 FLEX, which enables the placement of labels on the moving as well as fixed platen side. Thereby alternatively flat labels, 3- or 5-sided or wrap-around labels can be inserted. The system is already equipped as a standard with "Lock-and-Fix"-mechanics to allow a quick change of end-of-arm tooling and label magazine.

To the same extent exists the requirement for higher flexibility also in the tooling area, which Wittmann encounters with modular mold construction.
