New eco friendly material for thermoformed packaging uses 100% rPET

26-Sep-08
American packaging company MHI has recently announced to offer thermoformed packaging produced with Good Earth (tm) 100% recycled PET (rPET). Good Earth - the company's proprietary line of eco-friendly packaging - is not only made 100% from recycled plastic bottles but also is biodegradable, compostable, recyclable and has been approved by FDA for food and non food applications. The new material has benefits including FDA approval, high clarity and good strength which lend it an attractive and practical alternative for a wide range of food and consumer goods packaging. Further, it does not have any shelf life, storage, or heat sensitivity limitations and shows performance and physical characteristics similar to traditional materials (APET and PVC).
