Chemical foam has been used in industry for quite some time.
However it has drawbacks, one of many, of producing very large cells with wide non-uniform distribution.
This gives rise to very poor mechanical properties in foamed product.
In addition foamed products produced with chemical agents sometimes leave byproduct in the end product, which can leave undesirable odour and may not be suitable for food, drugs and other industries.
On the other hand physical blowing agent uses natural gases like nitrogen and carbondioxide to produce foamed products.
Other gases like Freon and derivatives have been used but mainly for producing very low density polystyrene foam.
Foaming high density and low density polyethylene with physical blowing agents can produce a product with very small cells and very uniform structure.
This gives rise to a product, whose property only degrades in proportion to density reduction.
Also nitrogen and carbon dioxide leave no undesirable by-product in the end.
