Indian
processing equipment business is estimated at about Rs.1000
crore (Rs.10 billion or about US$225 billion) in 2005-2006.
The sector is growing at about 10-12% for the past few years.
Extrusion sector in India consumes about 60% of the total polymers,
but the number of injection moulding machines is much higher.

The recent
drive from material suppliers to enhance processability, provide
several colours and improved bondability to different substrates
at a lower cost, have stimulated the growth of TPEs in the automotive
sector. Automotive sector accounts for 40-50% of demand for
most TPEs and is a process and materials technology driver.
