Burel Industries has selected UNIPOL™ Polypropylene Process Technology by Dow Chemical Company for its new 250,000 tpa polypropylene facility at Gebang Industrial Park in Kuantan, Malaysia. The plant will be designed to produce homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers and is set to come on line in 2013/2014. “We are honored that UNIPOL Polypropylene Technology has been chosen by Burel Industries for this facility,” said Tracy Cleckler, global commercial director, Dow Polypropylene Licensing and Catalysts business. “Our customers choose the UNIPOL™ PP Process because the technology will enable them to build and operate the most competitive and advantaged facility capable of producing a full range of performance polypropylene products to serve the market’s ever changing needs. We are very pleased to welcome Burel into our growing family of UNIPOL Polypropylene Technology licensees in Asia.” “Burel Industries’ primary reasons for selecting the UNIPOL™ PP Process include low investment costs, broadest product capabilities, scalability and advanced technologies,” noted Per Brandtzag, Burel Chairman. There are currently 17 operating lines using UNIPOL Polypropylene Technology from Dow Performance Plastics Licensing and Catalysts. The UNIPOL PP Process is an all gas-phase process for producing the broadest range of polypropylene resins. It’s simple design is consistent in terms of product quality and energy efficiency, requiring no equipment for handling, separating or recycling solvents. The system’s fluidized-bed reactors and high performance CONSISTA™ Catalyst Systems and SHAC™ Catalyst Systems give manufacturers the flexibility to produce homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers. “There is growing demand for polypropylene in Asia and we are working with our customers to help meet industry needs in the region at the lowest total investment and operating costs,” adds Cleckler.
