Deteriorating market conditions trigger lay offs at Ticona’s Cleveland County plant

07-Aug-09
Deteriorating market conditions that have led to unenthusiastic demand has triggered lay off of about 100 workers in Cleveland County. The 150-employee facility is in the Earl community, a few miles south of Shelby. Ticona will consolidate its compounding operations in Earl with a company facility in Kentucky by Sept 30. One polymer production unit will remain at the local plant, but another will cease operation. Affected workers will be offered severance and outplacement services, Jacobsen says.
