Most thermoplastics dip in West Europe in line with input cost declines

06-Nov-09
Prices of most standard thermoplastics plunged in West Europe in October, in line with falling feedstock costs as per Plastics Information Europe. Output has been adapted to weaker demand, and imports, which had been increasing, were diverted to Asia last month in search of higher prices. Still, PIE says, pre-Christmas orders have disappointed, as consumer confidence seems to be diminishing. Therefore, a surplus of unsold material could have to be written off at year’s end. The pressure on polymer notations is expected to continue.
