New high flow poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) grades that offer twice the flow length of conventional glass-filled PBT grades have been introduced by Sabic Innovative Plastics. Valox® SHF (Super High Flow) allows to reduce cycle time by up to 25% due to faster injection rate and reduced cooling time and are available in flame retardant and non flame retardant grades, with glass fiber contents ranging from 15 to 40%. They are expected to be used as an alternative to standard glass fiber reinforced PBT materials as well as liquid crystal polymers (LCP).
