Total in talks with Saudi Aramco to build a cracker in Jubail

French oil major Total is in talks with state Saudi Aramco to build a cracker at their 400,000 bpd joint crude oil refinery in Jubail, as per Reuters. The refinery, which is export and domestic oriented, will produce 700,000 tpa of paraxylene, 140,000 tpa of benzene and 200,000 tpa of polymer-grade propylene. The two partners are mulling a multi-feed cracker. Capacity could be 1500000 tpa of ethylene and 500000 tons of propylene, plus derivatives," as per Michel Govaerts, general manager of business development for Middle East and Asia at Total Petrochemicals.
