A. Schulman Inc. has formed an exclusive strategic alliance with New York-based company Add the Flavor LLC., to focus on commercializing Polyflav™, a masterbatch/additive aimed at plastic applications requiring custom taste and scent enhancements. The masterbatch Polyflav™ technology uses flavor in a new way with two product classes: the Polyflav™ "S" and "O" Series, both providing long-lasting flavor. The Standard ("S") Series can be utilized in a range of polymers to offer a strong scent with a subtle taste. The Optimized ("O") Series provides both strong scent and taste, thereby delivering a robust flavor response.
Currently, the alliance has developed masterbatch products with such flavors as mint, raspberry, grape, lemon, chocolate and orange, among others. A. Schulman is the exclusive manufacturer of this new flavor technology and makes the product commercially available through its normal supply chain and sales representatives. Add the Flavor has a worldwide exclusive license to market and sell flavored products.
These products have been added to the company's Polybatch® line of specialty additive masterbatches. A. Schulman's Polybatch® product line consists of specialized additives for BOPP film, polyethylene film, extrusion, injection molding and thermoforming applications, primarily geared to the packaging market. The additives enhance the performance of customers' products with features such as antimicrobial, antifogging and antistatic properties, as well as surface modification for slip and anti-blocking. In addition, leading-edge advancements expand the Polybatch® product line to offer additive solutions addressing environmental concerns in packaging applications.
