Japan's ethylene output in December fell 24% yoy to 508,200 metric tons, as per the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The sharp fall was a result of reduction by Japanese petrochemical producers in response to weak Asian demand.
METI's preliminary statistics showed that December ethylene output was 5.5% lower on month. No ethylene plants were shut for regular turnarounds in December.
