One unit of Total contingently starts up

16-Aug-07
Total PetroChemicals USA, a unit of France's Total SA, plans to contingently restart Unit 817, a Shell Clause off-gas treating (SCOT) unit, at its Port Arthur, Texas refinery. The startup was contingent to the return to normal operations of unit 819, that currently seems unlikely. The units were shut on July 31, when distillate hydrotreater No. 1 was shut and rates were reduced at distillate hydrotreater No.2, a fluid catalytic cracking unit and a unibon unit so that maintenance could be performed at the SCOT unit.
