Philippines' largest oil refining company, Petron Corp. has opted to go for a pre-scheduled 30-day close down of its 180,000 bpd oil refinery in December. Citing regular maintenance as the reason for the same, the refinery close down will speed up the linkage of its petrochemicals unit with its catalytic regenerator by February, 2009. Petron's petrochemicals unit is set to have production capacity including 22,000 tpa benzene, 150,000 tpa toluene and 220,000 tpa of mixed xylene.
