Qatar mulls termination of US$6 bln project with Exxon Mobil

In January, Qatar had inked an agreement with Exxon Mobil Corp. to jointly build a US$6 bln petrochemicals complex. However, the Qatari major has ideas to change its partner and is mulling a switch from ExxonMobil to the company that makes the best proposal. The planned petrochemical plant is to include a 1.6 mln tpa steam cracker, two 650,000 ton polyethylene plants and a 700,000 ton ethylene glycol plant. Construction was to have been completed by 2015.
