Naphtha production at Reliance Petroleum's new $6 bln refinery takes off

India's Reliance Petroleum Ltd, a subsidiary of Mukesh Ambani promoted Reliance Group has commissioned an US$6 bln export-specific refinery near its existing facility in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The new refinery combined with the existing facility with have a refining capacity of 1.24 bln bpd of crude oil and will be capable of producing high quality Euro-IV and Euro-V grade fuels. The new refinery will have production capacity of 25,000 tons of naphtha, petrol, sulphur, pet coke per day and 31,000 tons of diesel per day. The refinery which is expected to operate full capacity by 3 - 4 months, is capable of treating even the poorest quality of crude oil. Production of naphtha, kerosene, diesel and has kicked off in the phase-1 while petrol production is believed to take off by February end.
