Faced with declining demand in the face of a global economic meltdown, Turkey's Petkim had brought forward its annual maintenance turnaround earlier last month. Continued to be faced with deteriorating demand, Petkim has arrived at a decision to extend the period of its annual maintenance break at its main aromatics plant until demand improves. Jobs have not been slashed as yet by the company as it awaits export orders to lift, particularly from the European automotive sector.
