Japan's Dia-Nitrix has made a minor amendment to the maintenance schedule for its 90,000 tpa acrylonitrile plant at Otake, as per Platts. The plant's smaller 15,000 tpa reactor has been shut from September 1, and will restart November 4- the shutdown is longer than planned because a new catalyst is currently being tested. Its larger 75,000 tpa reactor was shut September 14 and is to restart October 19. Both reactors were earlier scheduled to be shut from mid-September for four weeks. As the Otake plant was running at full capacity prior to the shutdown, Platts estimates that up to 8,000 tons of ACN would be removed from the supply chain.
