Faced with difficulties in locating sufficient quantities of import PVC, buyers in Malaysia are seeking alternative import suppliers. As per Chemorbis, a PVC compounder has been unable to locate Indonesian PVC this week after securing 70 tons of material last week because of reduced supplier allocation for this month. Domestic PVC is not being considered an attractive offer when compared with the prevailing import prices. Import offers for PVC k67-68 were reported this week in the range of US$1025-1055/ton CIF SEA, cash equivalent basis, whereas offers in the local market were reported at MYR3650-3700/ton (US$1083-1098/ton) FD Malaysia, cash equivalent basis, giving domestic offers a premium of around US$15-30/ton over imports after factoring in clearance charges of around US$30/ton.
