APEC, a division of Helix Medical and manufacturer of high precision medical device components and subassemblies, recently announced expansion of its state-of-the-art medical device manufacturing operation in Baldwin Park, California. The facility expansion includes three new cleanrooms - a 10,000 square foot Class 100,000 cleanroom (ISO Class 8) for injection molding and assembly, a Class 100,000 assembly room, and a Class 10,000 assembly room (ISO Class 7). APEC has also doubled the size of their metrology lab adding several pieces of leading edge equipment for color inspection, measurement, and additional software.
The expansion will enable APEC to increase capacity for molding, metrology, and cleanroom assembly by 50%. "This investment reflects our commitment to our customers," said Anura Welikala, President of APEC, "and our commitment to grow as a world-class molder and offer tier one manufacturing services to medical device and life science companies." APEC manufactures high precision medical device components and subassemblies specializing in thermoplastic, silicone (LIM), insert, and two-shot molding. APEC also runs operations in Asia which encompasses a 35,000 sq. ft. facility in Shenzhen, China.
