Polypropylene demand in Mexico is forecast to be flat year on year in 2012, a source from Indelpro said on the sidelines of the 31st Latin American Petrochemical Association annual meeting, as per Platts. US demand is estimated to be down by 5-6%. A decrease in PP demand in the US could result in increased exports from US producers to Mexico at prices discounted sometimes to monomer (PGP) prices. Mexico's domestic demand has been estimated by market sources at 1.1-1.2 mln tpa - Indelpro's production capacity is about 700,000 tpa, while 400,000-500,000 tpa have to be sourced by imports.
