Glass fiber for medical implants

HPB™ - a new glass fiber reinforcement specially developed for the production of long-term implant applications (of over 30 days) has been introduced by the American company AGY. HPB™ is produced using a proprietary glass processing technology can be used with a wide range of thermoplastics including polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyetherimide (PEI) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). The glass fibers exhibit 40% higher tensile strength and 20% higher tensile modulus than conventional E-glass fiber.
