The high density polyethylene lines at Mexican state-owned Pemex's Cangrejera complex remain shut due to lack of feedstock, as per sources in Platts. "The Cangrejera cracker is running but HDPE production is stopped for lack of ethane and ethylene," the source said. He added that only one of the three low density polyethylene lines was running. The Cangrejera nameplate capacity of the LDPE lines is 315,000/mt, and for HDPE grades injection and blowmolding, capacity is 200,000/mt.
Pemex performed maintenance on the steam cracker on December 28 and concluded the work on January 10. The company was heard starting up one LDPE line and then staggering the other one by a week. Pemex could not be reached for comment.
