South Korea-based Polymirae, a LyondellBasell-Daelim JV, has unearthed two new Polypropylene resins - Clyrell RC5003 and Moplen RP5007 - and will make them commercially available in Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle East regions. The new PP resins are specifically made for use in high transparency and high flow applications.
Compliant with US FDA food contact requirements, Clyrell RC5003 offers up to 10% cycle time enhancement and reduction of haze values from 12% (seen in other PP random polymers) to 6%. With its high gloss, transparency and fluidity, Clyrell RC5003 (PP copolymer) will replace PC, PET and SAN in high clarity bottles, food and display containers. The other resin, Moplen RP5007 also qualifies FDA food contact requirements and exhibits scratch resistance in the washing process and demonstrates almost no sink marks thereby making possible its use in thin-wall injection moulding applications. Moplen RP5007 reduces the processing temperatures by 10oC - 20oC, allows increase in injection speeds and shortens the cycle time considerably relative to standard MFR C2 and C3 random copolymers.
