Shell Oil Co. is proceeding with planning the layout of their proposed petrochemical plant. Talks are underway with potential business partners for supplying them land Monaca, about 40 miles north of Pittsburgh. The cracker will convert natural gas from Marcellus Shale into ethylene. The company is working on the design and the business relationships needed to support the multibillion-dollar project.
