Equipolymers has completed the construction of a second PET line at its Schkopau (Germany) facility, with capacity of 175,000 mta. With this, total capacity at Equiploymers' Schkopau site will stand at 450,000 mta. Equipolymers is a 50:50 joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company of Kuwait and Dow Chemical Co.
The new production facility utilizes Zimmer melt-phase polycondensation and Buehler solid-state polycondensation technologies. Along with expansion at Schkopau, as part of it's global business growth strategy and commitment to supply the market for the long-term, Equipolymer also plans another expansion. By 2006, the company plans to modernize its' 100,000 mta Ottana plant in Italy.
