PMMAI and Messe Düsseldorf India join forces to take PLASTFOCUS to the global stage through the K Alliance

Ahmedabad, India, 12 October 2026: The Plastics Machinery Manufacturers Association of India (PMMAI) and Messe Düsseldorf India today officially launched PLASTFOCUS 2027 in Ahmedabad, India, marking a significant new chapter for one of India’s leading platforms for plastics machinery and technology.

The launch follows the long-term strategic partnership forged between PMMAI and Messe Düsseldorf India under which the two organisations jointly own and co-organise PLASTFOCUS from 2027 onwards. The exhibition will also become part of the K Alliance, Messe Düsseldorf’s global plastics and rubber portfolio, strengthening the connection between India’s rapidly growing plastics industry and the international plastics and rubber ecosystem.

The partnership combines PMMAI’s strong industry connect and understanding of the Indian plastics machinery sector with Messe Düsseldorf’s international trade fair expertise and global network. Together, the organisations aim to create greater opportunities for Indian and international companies to access technologies, develop business relationships and connect with new markets.

India gains stronger global connectivity

Speaking at the launch, Marius Berlemann, Chief Operating Officer, Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, highlighted the growing strategic importance of India for the global plastics and rubber industry.

“India is an increasingly important market for the global plastics and rubber industry, and it is also strategically important for Messe Düsseldorf. Through PLASTFOCUS becoming part of the K Alliance, we are creating stronger connections between the Indian industry and the global plastics and rubber network. For exhibitors, this creates greater opportunities to connect with international customers and technology partners, while visitors from all over the world will gain access to a wider range of technologies, innovations and global industry trends. Our ambition is to combine strong local market relevance with international reach.”

The K Alliance brings together Messe Düsseldorf’s own events and strategic alliances in key growth markets around the world. With PLASTFOCUS joining the network, the K Alliance is further strengthening its presence in India and its role as an international network for the plastics and rubber industry. For Messe Düsseldorf, the partnership also represents an important strategic investment in the Indian market, creating opportunities not only in plastics and rubber but, over the longer term, in related sectors such as packaging and printing.

PLASTFOCUS 2027 to set new benchmarks in scale

The third edition of PLASTFOCUS will take place from 23 to 26 June 2027 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru. The move from Noida/Delhi to Bengaluru marks an important milestone in the exhibition’s development and will strengthen its connectivity with India’s manufacturing, technology and business ecosystem.

Looking forward to an exciting edition, Ajay Gulati, General Manager, Messe Düsseldorf India shared his thoughts, “PLASTFOCUS is entering an exciting new phase. The scale we are preparing for in 2027 reflects the confidence that the industry has placed in the platform. What matters the most to us is the quality of business conversations, technology demonstrations, knowledge exchange and partnerships that take place here. Our objective is to make PLASTFOCUS a platform where the Indian plastics industry can meet the best technologies and solutions from India and around the world.”

Bengaluru’s position as one of India’s leading industrial, technology and innovation hubs will further enable PLASTFOCUS to connect with the country’s manufacturing and technology ecosystem, particularly across the southern and western regions, while supporting its ambition to attract exhibitors and professional visitors from India and overseas.

A platform for technology, business and industry transformation

PLASTFOCUS 2027 is being positioned not simply as a large exhibition, but as a platform focused on business connections, technology access, knowledge exchange and the future of the plastics industry.

Visitors can expect representation across the plastics value chain, including machinery and processing and converting technologies, raw materials, automation, recycling, ancillary equipment and finished solutions. The exhibition will provide opportunities to compare technologies, engage directly with manufacturers and identify solutions that can improve productivity, quality, sustainability and competitiveness.

The launch comes at a significant time for the Indian plastics industry. Market studies estimate the Indian plastics industry at more than USD 44 billion in 2025, with the market expected to exceed USD 63 billion by 2031. Plastics consumption in India has reached around 22 million tonnes, while relatively low per-capita consumption highlights the market’s substantial long-term growth potential.

At the same time, the industry is undergoing transformation driven by sustainability, circularity, recycling, energy efficiency, material innovation, automation, digitalisation and intelligent manufacturing. These developments are influencing the entire plastics value chain, with machinery manufacturers, material producers, processors and technology companies contributing to the transition towards a more sustainable and resource-efficient industry.

Strengthening India’s global plastics machinery ecosystem

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Tushar Parikh, President, PMMAI and Managing Director, Neoplast Engineering Private Limited said, “Indian plastics machinery manufacturers have much to offer customers in India and overseas. PMMAI created PLASTFOCUS to give the cost-effective industry a platform to demonstrate its capabilities, build customer confidence and expand into new markets. Our partnership with Messe Düsseldorf strengthens this effort while keeping the needs and ambitions of Indian manufacturers at the centre of the exhibition.

The next phase of growth in India’s plastics industry will require continued investment in technology, productivity and resource efficiency. Machinery manufacturers have an important role in enabling that progress. PLASTFOCUS 2027 in Bengaluru will bring all the stakeholders together to evaluate solutions, exchange knowledge and build partnerships that strengthen competitiveness and support the industry’s long-term development.”

Mr. Sunil Jain, Hon. Treasurer, PMMAI and Director of Rajoo Engineers Limited, who has been closely associated with the development of this partnership, said: “For decades, Indian machinery manufacturers have travelled across the world to see new technologies and explore business opportunities. I believe the time has come for the world to come to India to see what our machinery industry can offer. PLASTFOCUS was created with the interests of Indian manufacturers at its heart, and our partnership with Messe Düsseldorf is an important step towards this larger ambition. We want PLASTFOCUS to become not just an exhibition, but a gateway for Indian machinery manufacturers to reach international markets, build global relationships and earn the recognition they deserve.”

With its 2027 edition, PLASTFOCUS aims to bring together the Indian and global plastics community at a scale that reflects the growing importance of the Indian market.
