Initiatives undertaken by Plastindia Foundation on GST

03-Oct-17

Plastindia Foundation wholeheartedly supports the economic reforms being undertaken by the Government of India in the country. One of the key economic reforms is the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is an indirect tax throughout India to replace taxes levied by the Central and State Governments.  While appreciating this initiative, Plastindia Foundation has raised concerns over the uneven taxation and anomalies that have bracketed different Plastic Products and materials in different tax brackets which will affect not only the common man but also the industry. The Foundation has already taken up these concerns with the GST Council, the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals (DCPC), and various State Governments to reduce the tax burden to save this sunrise industry from stunted growth. The Plastindia Foundation had also organized a Press Conference in Mumbai on 1.06.2017 to apprise the implication of GST on Plastics Industry.

On 24.06.2017, a delegation of Plastindia Foundation led by its President Shri K. K. Seksaria met Shri Arun Jaitleyji, the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister and the Chairman of GST Council in his office in New Delhi. The delegation comprised of Shri Pradeep Rathod, Shri Manish Parekh and other Plastics industry representatives.  Shri K. K.
