21-Jul-26 Following the overwhelming success of its Foundation Certificate Course on Plastic Recycling, the Plastics Packaging Research & Development Centre (PPRDC), in association with the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) and supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has announced the launch of its 2-month Advanced Certificate Course on Plastic Recycling.
The Foundation Course (Module-I) received an exceptional response, with over 50 participants appreciating the program for its informative, relevant, and industry-focused curriculum that contributed significantly to their professional development.
The newly launched Module-II: Advanced Course is designed to provide participants with in-depth technical knowledge and practical skills in modern plastic waste management and recycling technologies. The program aims to equip professionals to establish or manage recycling facilities capable of converting plastic waste into value-added products.
The advanced curriculum covers key subjects including advanced recycling technologies, waste sorting systems, process value chain optimization, design for recyclability, AI-based waste identification and sorting, PCR traceability and quantification, process quality control, lab setup, regulations and certification systems, and value-added compounded product development.
Participants will also receive specialized training in mechanical, chemical, and physical recycling, contaminant classification, solid-state polycondensation (SSP/LSP) for PET, deodorization techniques, AI-driven sorting traceability, and international standards including BIS compliance.
A key highlight of the program is its strong emphasis on industry exposure and practical learning. In addition to classroom sessions, participants will visit operational recycling facilities equipped with AI-based sorting systems, polymer sorters, sink-float separation units, washing plants, milk pouch recycling units, and extrusion facilities. Industry experts and entrepreneurs will also conduct guest lectures, providing valuable insights into real-world recycling operations.
The course concludes with a Capstone Project, where participants or teams will develop a mini recycling business plan, such as setting up a recycling unit or launching a recycled product line, and present their projects before industry mentors for evaluation and feedback.
Designed for Diploma Graduates, Engineers, Managers, Entrepreneurs, Start-ups, and Process Teams, the program consists of 26 sessions, covers 18 faculties and 12 comprehensive subjects, offering participants a holistic understanding of the plastic recycling ecosystem.
The course is being offered in dual mode, combining online theoretical sessions with hands-on practical training on material testing and recycling machine operations, ensuring participants gain both conceptual knowledge and operational expertise.
With India's increasing focus on sustainability and circular economy initiatives, this advanced certification program is expected to create a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and growth in the country's plastic recycling sector.
