A Protest is being organized against the Proposed Plastic Ban on 23rd of February 2018 at Azad Maidan,Mumbai. We would like to inform everyone that AIPMA is supporting this protest and will actively participatein it. We request all our members and supporters to join us in the protest and recommend them to stick to thefollowing points. This will help us to make our points effective and prevent any deflection from the mainagenda.
- Oppose the Plastic Ban: Proposal to Ban Plastics anywhere is unfortunate and is based on misconception and unscientific data. Ban on Plastic Essentials required for Packaging can compromise Food and Health Security of millions of consumers in absence of viable alternatives and will lead to a lot of food wastage.
- Implement Plastic Waste Management (PWM) rules, 2016: The concern of Environment due to littering is addressed in PWM 2016 and its implementation can resolve the issue. Hence we propose that the PWM rules should be implemented properly instead of the ban.
- Demand for a detailed Environment Impact Assessment (EIA): Before proposing a ban of such magnitude, there are many other factors that need to be considered. We demand for a detailed Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) of plastics and its alternatives to be conducted prior to the decision to move forward with the proposed ban.
- Plastic Parks: All Proposed Plastic Parks in every state of India needs to have proper infrastructure so as to enable the recyclers to recycle the waste effectively.
