Construction activities are in full swing at the site of Borouge-2 being developed by Abu Dhabi Polymer Company (Borouge). The polyethylene plant is being constructed at a development cost of US$4.84 bln in Ruwais, and is scheduled for completion in Q1-2010. Four EPC contracts have been awarded in packages as a measure to control cost, including the largest grass-roots gas cracker in the world; two Borstar polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons; and a Borstar-enhanced polyethylene plant with an annual capacity of 540,000 tons.
