Decision on Nova Chemicals’ new PE plant in Sarnia-Lambton not expected until 2013

14-Jun-12
A decision on whether Nova Chemical will build a new world-scale polyethylene plant in Sarnia-Lambton isn’t expected until 2013. But company a spokesman said two other growth projects Nova has planned for Chemical Valley will begin once they receive regulatory approval. That includes an 8 km Genesis pipeline from an existing St. Clair River crossing that will deliver natural gas liquids, originating from the Marcellus shale basin, to Nova’s Corunna plant. Nova awaits approval for the pipeline project from the National Energy Board. Nova awaits approval from the Ministry of the Environment for a US$250 mln Corunna plant revamp, making it capable of running with 100% natural gas liquids feedstock.
