Dow to conduct planned maintenance turnaround at propylene oxide plant in Texas

The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) will conduct a scheduled turnaround at its propylene oxide (PO) production plant in Freeport, Texas. The 2-3 week turnaround, scheduled to begin on March 27, 2008, will involve equipment inspections and, if necessary, repairs and replacements. ,PO is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of urethane polyether polyols, glycol ethers, surfactants and other chemical intermediates, as well as propylene glycol (PG). Based on publicly available data, Dow anticipates that global demand for PO will grow at 3 to 4 percent annually through 2010, in line with the world Gross Domestic Product.
