Thermoformed plastics products manufacturer American Trade Products (ATP) recently unveiled Earth Plastic™, a completely biodegradable plastic material made from recycled plastic and a proprietary blend of additives. Earth Plastic™ is 100% recyclable and Earth Plastic™ additives enable microbes to degrade the plastic into eco-friendly and harmless soil-like material. The company claims Earth Plastic™ products biodegrade within approximately two to five years depending on conditions, when disposed off in landfills or other locations.
Earth Plastic™ additives have been tested and certified as biodegradable by independent laboratories using American Society of Testing Materials' (ASTM) standard methodologies. Combining eco-friendliness and low price, Earth Plastic™ have been used to manufacture 100% biodegradable paint trays and sundries available at leading US retail chains including The Home Depot, select Wal-Mart stores, and Sherwin-Williams. As per the company, the eco-friendly plastic paint trays are made by blending 100% recycled PET materials with proprietary additives rendering it completely bio-degradable.
