12-Sep-07
Lukoil-Neftekhim plans to invest an approximate sum of US$1 bln in Ukraine`s Karpatnaftokhim. The new facility will process plastic and raw petrochemicals at Ukraine in the Ivano-Frankivsk town of Kalush. This amount does not include US$600 mln that the company plans to invest in the construction facility of new products - chlorine, caustic soda and 350,000 tpa polyvinylchloride. Karpatnaftokhim currently exports raw materials to Romania, Hungary and Poland. These materials then find their way back into the country after they are processed overseas. The Karpatnaftokhim plant will produce plastic for windows and aluminum window profiles. Karpatnaftokhim was founded in October 2004. It uses the main facilities of LUKOR Ltd. to produce vinyl chloride, hydrate of sodium and chloride, and also ethylene and propylene.
