Marubeni plans to build a large petrochemical complex with Russia’s Gazprom in the Russian city of Nakhodka, Primorsky Krai, according to local media reports. Japan’s Marubeni is one of Asian's largest general trading companies, while Gazprom is the world's largest producer of gas. Financial details of the project, as well as the timing of its implementation, have not yet been disclosed. Marubeni plans to be the main investor in construction and the main purchaser of its future production. For Gazprom, this participation could form part of the company’s current strategy to diversify its business, with paying a particular attention for the development of its petrochemical business.
