Mitsui Co. Ltd. signed an agreement to buy propylene from a newly-opened petrochemical facility from Philippine oil refiner, Petron Corp. This agreement has been signed at the opening of Petron's Petro Fluidized Catalytic Cracking (PetroFCC) unit and Propylene Recovery Unit (PRU) in their 180000 bpd refinery in Bataan. The PetroFCC has a conversion capacity of 19000 bpd while the PRU will produce 140000 tpa of propylene.
Mitsui is one of the largest Japanese tradingpa houses with a strong global presence in petrochemicals. It also has strong logistical support and trades propylene in Asia, including the Philippines.
