Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company Q.J.S.C. (Muntajat), has completed the assumption of sales and marketing responsibilities of vinyl and caustic soda products from Qatar Vinyl Company Ltd. Q.S.C. (QVC), as per Ameinfo.com.
The transfer of the sales and marketing responsibilities is considered another landmark for Muntajat, the company with the mandate to export Qatar's 10 mln tons of chemicals and petrochemicals to worldwide markets. This achievement increases Muntajat's export portfolio to nearly 80% of Qatar's chemical and petrochemical production, and marks the fourth milestone in a comprehensive consolidation of the State's marketing and distribution responsibilities under one entity. Muntajat has already started taking orders for QVC products as of the 15th of April.
Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, CEO of Muntajat, said, "Adding QVC's high-quality products to the Muntajat sales portfolio widens our footprint in the marketing and sales of chemicals and petrochemicals worldwide. As the second largest selling plastic, PVC is a product in demand around the world in areas ranging from medical applications to pipes and building materials. With this transition complete, Muntajat is now handling sales and export for more than three-quarters of Qatar's chemical, polymer, and fertiliser production. We are making progress on two tracks -- transitioning the sales and marketing functions of the producing entities and building out our global client service network. In this way, Muntajat is delivering new value to customers, the producing entities and the State of Qatar." Mr. Hamad Rashed Al-Nuaimi, CEO of QVC, said, "We are proud of our heritage of safety and quality. Our operations use state-of-the-art technology that respects the environment while creating value for shareholders. We are operating at 125% design plate capacity for the chlorine plant and 160% of the design plate capacity for the VCM plant. The transition of marketing and sales responsibilities allows QVC management to continue our focus on achieving the objective of being a low cost, safe, high-quality and efficient vinyl producer with sights on expansion opportunities. QVC operations will continue the high-quality management of its products in order to back up the sales activities carried out by Muntajat."
A leading producer of high quality vinyl products and caustic soda, QVC has more than a decade of production and safety excellence. It has a reputation for running a well-managed plant with a capacity of 350,000 m tpa of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and 180,000 m tpa of ethylene dichloride (EDC) - both raw materials in the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) industry. Additionally, QVC has a capacity to produce 730,000 liquid m tpa of caustic soda solution, a product used in the alumina industry, soap and detergents and pulp and paper industries. QVC also produces hydrochloric acid.
Since its establishment in August 2012, Muntajat has been finalising the necessary approvals as well as consulting all nine operating entities in Qatar's chemical and petrochemical industry to prepare for a full transition of their sales, marketing and distribution functions to Muntajat.
Since 1st February 2013, Muntajat has taken over all marketing and distribution functions of Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC), Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO), and SEEF Limited, earlier this month. Muntajat is on track to complete the full consolidation of all nine entities by mid-2013.
