A new, unique coffee-aroma polymer has been developed by Axion Polymers by blending mixed WEEE and post-consumer retail waste plastics with spent coffee grounds. The plastic recycling specialist believes this is the first time that waste from coffee has been used in this way. The polymer was developed for Re-worked, an industrial design and product development enterprise for molding into plastic sheeting to create a versatile hard surfacing product with a faint coffee smell. Spent coffee grounds are cleaned and sterilised before being mixed and turned into sheeting.
