Rhodia's new 48,000 ton polymerisation plant, under construction in Onsan, South Korea, is to come on-stream as scheduled.
The plant, which is a key element in Rhodia Polyamide Asia's growth strategy, will reinforce provision of the company's STABAMID™ range of product and services to its customers throughout the region. To ensure consistency of the STABAMID™ quality standard worldwide, the Onsan plant has been calibrated to be identical to all other Rhodia Polyamide plants and like them it will follow ISO 9001 guidelines. Rhodia currently operates polymerisation plants in France (Belle-Etoile), Germany (Freiburg), Italy (Ceriano) and Brazil (Santo André).
According to Vincent Kamel, President of Rhodia Polyamide in Asia: "Maintenance of a common standard across all our production sites means that our customers can be assured of supply with the same quality STABAMID™ polymers, wherever they are in the world."
Rhodia Polyamide's strong commitment to the Asian markets is evidenced by its established and growing industrial base in the region. This now comprises an adipic acid plant in South Korea; two engineering plastics compounding facilities in China and South Korea; as well as the new polymerisation unit at Onsan and a recently opened technical centre in Shanghai. Moreover, Rhodia has announced the addition of an HMDA plant at the end of 2009 and the further addition of an ADN facility is currently under study.
