Technip has been awarded by Solvay an engineering services contract for studying the construction of a greenfield chemical plant in Taixing, Jiangsu Province, China. The plant will be based on Solvay's innovative and patented Epicerol technology and will produce 100,000 tpa of epichlorohydrin from glycerine. Epichlorohydrin is an organochlorine compound and an epoxide which is used in the production of glycerol, plastics, epoxy glues and resins, and elastomers. Glycerine is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid that is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations.
