Wales to see a plastics recycling boost within two years

16-Sep-08
Wales is set to witness two large scale plastics recycling projects to go on stream in the forthcoming two years. Australian-based Closed Loop Recycling will set underway its second UK facility to recycle 50,000 tpa of PET and HDPE bottles into food-grade packaging in a plant in North Wales. This plant is expected to kick off operations by mid-2009 and will need an outlay of £12 mln (US$21.55 mln). Also, Hertfordshire-based Baylis Recycling and social enterprise Plastics Sorting Ltd have teamed up to establish a 20,000 tpa PET and HDPE recycling plant in South Wales. The South Wales recycling plant is expected to be operational by March 2010.
