An 8.3 bln lb project to build a refinery and petrochemical plant in eastern China involving Royal Dutch Shell has been shelved after losing political support, the Telegraph was reported by Reuters. The plant in the eastern city of Taizhou was planned to refine 20 mln tons of crude and produced 1.2 mln tpa of ethylene. Construction on the plant, that was planned to be a collaboration between China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) and Gulf energy giant Qatar Petroleum, was due to start last year.
