27-Oct-26 ?255-crore public issue to fund capacity expansion as company targets higher demand for PE and XLPE compounds
The ?255-crore initial public offering of BLS Polymers, a specialist Indian manufacturer of polymer compounds, opened for subscription on October 27, bringing renewed attention to India's growing value-added polymer compounding industry.
The issue comprises a fresh issue of 1.70 crore shares at a price band of ?142–150 per share. Before the public issue opened, BLS Polymers raised ?76.5 crore from six institutional investors through its anchor book, with the shares allotted at the upper end of the price band.
The IPO is particularly relevant to India's masterbatch and compounding industry because BLS Polymers operates in a segment where polymer expertise, formulation capability and application-specific performance are more important than simply supplying commodity resin.
From polymer resin to application-specific compounds
BLS Polymers manufactures custom-formulated polymer compounds used primarily in wire and cable applications and industrial pipeline coatings.
Its product portfolio includes:
The company also manufactures masterbatches and specialty additive products.
Its compounds are used for applications including insulation, jacketing and sheathing of power, telecommunications and railway cables, as well as three-layer polyethylene coatings for underground oil, gas and water pipelines.
Capacity expansion is at the centre of the IPO
BLS Polymers currently manufactures its products at its Goa facility.
The company reported FY26 capacity utilisation of approximately 75% for PE compounds and 73% for XLPE compounds. It plans to use approximately ?77.56 crore of the IPO proceeds to expand the Goa facility and increase capacity for selected products.
The proposed expansion would add approximately 52,050 tonnes per annum of PE and XLPE compound capacity, taking the relevant total capacity to approximately 87,301 tonnes per annum.
The company's strategy is therefore not simply to raise capital for general expansion. It is targeting product categories where it sees demand and where its existing manufacturing capacity is already being utilised at relatively high levels.
