After having an informal working spree between them, Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) have formally signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation transmission and distribution of natural gas, LPG pipelines, city gas projects, exploration and production. Besides, the MOU also covers marketing of naphtha, infrastructure projects and technology.
The MOU will strengthen the co-operation between the two companies to leverage the economic and environmental advantages of pipeline transportation, with a network from existing and new production centers. GAIL and BPCL (along with other companies) are already partners in one Energy & Petroleum (E&P) block in Oman. In future, the companies will also co-operate with regards to oil & gas, E&P, use of Naphtha from BPCL refineries as a feedstock for the expansion of GAIL`s existing petrochemical plant at Pata and other proposed petrochemical plants, participation in any infrastructure projects opportunity in areas of gas processing plants, refining units, pipelines etc. in India and overseas and sharing of technology and knowledge bank.
