Ethylene contract prices for the month of August are expected to rollover from July levels in Brazil. July ethylene price for Brazil’s domestic market has been heard at US$1215/MT FOB as per Platts. Fluctuation in exchange rate between the dollar and reals resulted in a €12/MT rise in July. Ethylene contract prices in Brazil generally follow the trend of European contract movements, but with a month lag.
As a result, Brazil’s domestic market for derivative polyethylene should see stable offers from Braskem for August.
